In 2024, an Oil & Gas operator in Darwin required additional warehousing to expand their Supply Base and support increasing operational demands. The solution needed to be cost-efficient, scalable, and compliant with cyclone-region standards while ensuring a fast delivery timeline.
To meet these needs, Qube was engaged to provide strategic design expertise and manage the project through to completion. During concept development, both permanent and semi-permanent infrastructure options were assessed. The team ultimately recommended a DomeShelter™ Structure for its rapid deployment, scalability, and proven durability in Australia’s toughest environments.
Delivered under an open-book model with a fixed management fee, this approach provided significant capital savings while maintaining engineering integrity and long-term performance.
The DomeShelter™ Solution
The permanent modular DomeShelter™ Structure was designed and engineered in Western Australia to meet the specific commercial, operational, and environmental requirements of the Darwin site.

Qube’s scope covered every stage of delivery — from advisory and proposal development to full project execution. This included site preparation, civil works, electrical installation, and final assembly of the container-mounted DomeShelter™ System.
Key works included:
- Installation of safety signage and site traffic flow design
- Full compliance documentation and approvals
- Civil groundworks and site preparation
- Painting and installation of double-stacked ISO container walls
- Electrical fit-out with internal and external LED lighting
- Installation of the DomeShelter™ Structure featuring Armourtex® 400gsm roofing and tropical cyclone-rated guttering
- The project was delivered on time and within budget, ready for immediate integration into the operator’s live supply chain operations.
Outcomes
The installed DomeShelter™ Structure now plays a key role in the operator’s day-to-day logistics and warehousing activities. The solution delivers:
- A clear-span internal workspace optimised for equipment, container, and inventory storage
- Integrated traffic flows for smooth vehicle and pedestrian movement
- High-clearance access for heavy machinery and freight handling
- Improved airflow, lighting, and temperature regulation for safer working conditions
- Long-term flexibility, allowing the structure to scale or adapt as operational needs evolve
By combining Qube’s project management expertise with DomeShelter Australia’s engineering and manufacturing capability, the operator gained a fit-for-purpose, cyclone-rated storage facility that will perform reliably in one of Australia’s toughest environmental regions.
The project reflects the strength of DomeShelter Logic® — an approach that prioritises performance, practicality, and longevity, delivering solutions trusted by leading operators across Australia’s Oil & Gas, Mining, and Industrial sectors.
